M32 Battle Commences

The Battle of Stockholm for the M32 series has started with light winds. The event is held from 8th to the 10th of September 2016 on Riddarfjarden. The leader of the series is GAC Pinder and is in the fine sailing form of late. Even though the 2nd placed team Essiq Racing had a winning start to the Battle of Stockholm, GAC Pinder was able to maintain a 5 point lead over its arch rival after day one. The tables can turn at the end of the M32 series and Essiq racing is a real contender for the title.

The Swedish team, Essiq racing, could not make it count in the 2nd race of the day as they finished in the last position. There was another young Swedish team that proved its mettle and pushed the peddle at the right time to win the 2nd race – see full details here. That team was the Artemis Youth Racing.

Ian Williams on the GAC Pinder looks very confident and comfortable in the Stockholm race and finished as the runner up in the first two races of day one. But, they did not have to wait long to get to winning ways once again. Pinder got the better of Essiq racing in the third race of the day and it was a neck to neck contest. The fourth race was comfortably won by Pinder and Ian Williams.

The final race saw winds picking up and the shifty winds worked better for Nicklas Dackhammar as he was able to hold on to  the lead position from the start to the finish. Dackhammar said that he was pleased to have finished on top at the end of the day and was happy with the sail that he had. He believes that making good starts and keeping the speed up can help him win some more races.
